Pilot Drive Unit: Ram / Pump

Select the drive system and control unit that's right for your boat using this simple guide.
  • Always remember to use the fully laden displacement of your boat when selecting a pilot.
  • Typically a yacht fully provisioned with the water and fuel tanks full, can be as much as 20% above the designed displacement.
  • If your boat falls between two pilot types, choose the larger pilot type - an under rated pilot may not be able to perform adequately when you need it most.
  • If in doubt, please check with an authorised B&G Dealer.
  • If you are using a Ram, Rotary drive or existing drive unit from another manufacturer, these will, in most cases, be compatible with B&G units. To check this however, please call your local B&G Dealer or call us directly.

The hydraulic reversing pump is fitted with check valves and can work with balanced and unbalanced cylinders.

Pilot ACP Processor

The ACP (Advanced Control Processor) provides the computing power which drives the ram/pump.

  • The intelligence driving the h1000 pilot is built into the ACP processor. The 16-bit processor ensures ample computing power is available for even the most demanding applications.
  • The ACP learns the characteristics of your boat so it can steer a perfect course for any condition without you having to constantly make adjustments.
  • It does this by constantly monitoring the boat's track and its response to commands so that it can modify steering parameters as required.
  • The result is a pilot that reacts quickly to the prevailing conditions, giving you peace of mind while allowing safe, efficient cruising.

Pilot ACP (Advanced Control Processor)

Pilot Rudder Angle Feedback Sensor

Rudder feedback sensors measure the angle at which the rudder is located. This enables the pilot computer to make decisions about how quickly and how much the rudder should be moved for accurate course keeping.

Pilot Displays and Controls

h1000 Pilot Display:

  • View data such as speed and depth, whilst the pilot is engaged.
  • Alter course using the rotary dial knob or soft touch buttons in increments of 1 or 10 degrees
  • Interface with GPS via selectable NMEA which allows you to select which sentences are received and transmitted.
  • Steer to Apparent Wind Angle, True Wind Angle, Compass or GPS.
  • View your rudder position, even in standby mode.

Pilot Remote Controller:
